Posthusstraeti 11 Reykjavík (Capital Region)

Hotel's description

The heart of Reykjavík is home to Iceland's most elegant Art Deco hotel overlooking the historic Asuturvollur Square. Extensive restoration has returned Hotel Borg to its original 1930s splendour and is once again the city's talking point. While maintaining respect for the historical and Art Deco aspects of Hotel Borg, the renovations also included the addition of a contemporary style 19 room wing. The 56 rooms are characterised by 1930's grace yet include the latest modern comforts. Luxury designer touches such as Hästens beds, Philippe Starck fittings and Bang & Olufsen flat screen TVs.Original parquetry flooring, custom made and period furniture are in balance and present a warm and inviting atmosphere underlined by the warmly painted walls carefully adorned with splashes of artwork.Silfur, the hotel's privately run restaurant, offers cuisine that is also influenced by incorporating Icelandic traditions and produce, commonly known as fusion cooking.

This new age Art Deco hotel houses the privately run Silfur Restaurant. The extravagant interior design includes designer furniture, modern black and white Versailles chairs, black glass chandeliers and Neo Baroque Italian lamps. In 2007 Silfur was awarded the Conde Nast traveler hot tables prize. The magazine sent its representatives to 30 countries to seek out new restaurants that would meet the most stringent quality demands. The up scale dining has a modern Nordic flair and is perfectly complemented by the excellent wine list selected from the best vineyards of the world.Situated in the same building is Brons, a chic café where the arty crowd mixes happily with celebrities, locals and guests. Offering simple hearty meals Brons is often the first port of call before moving on to the vibrant and pulsating Reykjavík night life.
